HOW YOU CAN BE SUPPORTED

You may have reached a point in your life where you know that something is out of balance or needs to change. Your usual coping strategies may not be working as well, and speaking to those close to you can feel challenging. Perhaps you’ve been struggling emotionally for some time now, without being able to make sense of things. Counselling can help. I offer a welcoming and neutral space where you can explore your issues and find ways to move forward.

About Person-Centred Counselling

I offer a Person-Centred approach to counselling. The philosophy behind this approach is that we have the ability to move forwards in our lives if we are provided with the right conditions. It is based on the therapist accepting and valuing you, being honest in how they experience you and offering empathy.

Our work together will involve non-judgmental conversation, where you can speak openly, feel heard and understood, and begin to find your way again.

What you can expect

I can support you with healing and growth around varied issues that may be causing you distress, such as:

  • anxiety

  • depression

  • low self-esteem

  • bereavement

  • substance misuse

  • domestic abuse

  • workplace trauma

  • neurodiversity

  • gender

  • sexuality

In each case we explore what’s going on for you, so that you can:

  • make sense of your feelings

  • process what you have experienced

  • discover how you want to move ahead

  • take back control and make empowered choices

I have experience working with a wide range of issues such as the above, and will support you around any emotional obstacles you are facing right now. After many years working in mental health and support settings within the voluntary sector, I am also familiar with workplace trauma and how it can impact on your life. I use the pronouns she/they, identify as queer and am passionate about working with people wishing to explore issues related to GSRD (gender, sexuality and relationship diversity).

FAQ

What happens when you get in touch?

This may be the first time you have accessed counselling, so I’ll give you an idea of what will happen when you make contact with me.

You can either call or email me and I will aim to reply within 24 hours, Mon-Thu, to set up an initial session online or in person, which would last around 1 hour.

During this session, it would be helpful if you could explain what brings you to counselling and I will give you an outline of how I work and what you can expect from me. If we are in agreement to work together, we can then find a suitable time to meet again.

Fees

A counselling session lasts 60 minutes and costs £60.

How many sessions will you need?

This is entirely individual. It could be open ended or a fixed number of sessions that we will agree together at the introductory session and review during our work together.
